Skin Deep (I-Team, #5.5)

Skin Deep (I-Team, #5.5) - Pamela Clare For the record I really really enjoy Pamela Clare's I-Team books. For the most part they are easy, enjoyable, quick and hot reads. Having read all of them, I have to say that this might be among my favorites so far. Clare gives us a spin-off about Megan Hunter- remember we met her in book 3 - Unlawful Contact. She's Marc's sister and while we got glimpses of her in that book, this one focuses on her. Megan has had a rough life, spent time in places we can't even imagine and when someone from her past attacks her, Nathaniel West is there to save her... and her little girl. Nate was a Marine at one time in his life, but he's back in Colorado to heal from an attack that left most of his team dead and him disfigured. Romance and love are not even a thought in his mind ... until he meets Megan. Drawn in by her, he's simply a rancher these days and making a delivery to a local shelter when he notices the girl he's 'noticed' before in trouble. Nate has not only physical scars to contend with, but emotional scars that need to be conquered and Megan too has to deal with the remaining emotional scars of her past in order to move forward. I won't go into the details, because that's better experienced while reading - but this novella moves at a good pace, the story flows well, and we get glimpses of our other favorite I-Team heroes... what more could we ask for?For a quick read filled with suspense, romance, action and lots of steam - check out not only this book, but the entire I-Team series!
