Well - I was waiting to review this because I got it as an ARC and didn't want to ruin it for anyone, then I forgot to come back to it!I loved this book - the plot, the characters, the world Ms. Griffin created - everything worked for me.Araby lives in a world where the plague has killed many, and the people who are left live in fear of dying. She spends her evenings with her friend at a club where people dance and drink to forget. Instead she finds more. The plot is almost impossible to explain without giving things away that are better found out while experiencing the book itself. Surprisingly the romance here wasn't the focus of the story... and I was totally ok with that. (I know surprising right?! lol) The writing is lovely - you can feel the desperation and fear of the characters, the sadness and unhappiness. I thought the pace of the story was fast, but I liked that about it. The story moved along and kept me interested. Will & Elliot - *SIGH* I don't even know how to feel about this situation because I think I totally fell for the guy she isn't going to go for (this gives me frowny face) My heart broke near the end regarding these two guys, but I felt that both characters were fleshed out enough for the first book.... but I wanted more. At the end of the book I'm sitting here with questions... which makes so damn excited for book two because I have hopes (big big hopes) that I'm going to get most of them answered. This book has a bit of everything... Murder, Mystery, Betrayal and even a bit of romance in a world where people do anything they can to survive. Give it a read and then come sit next to me, waiting patiently (impatiently) for the next in the series!
