Fiction Fare

So... I keep opening this review window up and then closing it down because I'm not entirely sure what I want to say. But I'm going to suck it up and write something now. Let me just first say that I was glad I waited to read Hallowed, because getting to read these two back to back was perfection for me. I didn't have to try and remember small details or who was doing what and why they were doing it. I'm glad I waited. Boundless opens shortly after Hallowed ends. You'll remember at the end of Hallowed we learned that Clara was going to spend the summer in Italy with Angela ... and she did. She's now on her way back to California and Stanford University where she's going to go to college with Christian and Angela. Easy and problem free right? Not so much. A few things happen all at once - A new vision starts coming to her, Clara's dad shows up and wants to train her, Samjeeza (the black wing) is following her around, and ... the big thing I'm not going to tell you about happens. LOL.Clara finally comes to the conclusion that she will never have the chance to live a normal life... not like she wanted and her visions are back and proving that she has a lot yet to learn about who she is going to become. Along the way she struggles with connecting with her brother Jeffrey, who shows up at her dorm one day, and despite the way things ended with Tucker she can't stop thinking about him. ahhhh Tucker. If you read my review of Hallowed, you know, that although I liked Tucker, I didn't love him. I felt he was missing a lot from book 2. But the glimpses we got of him here in book 3 were nice, and while I had angry flails a couple times, in the end I found myself loving him just as much as Christian.And speaking of Christian... I loved seeing her relationship with Christian grow in this one. The closeness between them, despite their supposed destiny, was wonderful to read.I love you," he murmurs. "Can you feel that? You. Not some destinyI think I'm called to. You. I'm with you. My strength. My soul. My heart. Feel it." The writing in this series was beautifully done and filled with emotion. But it wasn't all heavy. There were some light humor filled parts too that I really enjoyed, but there were definitely some emotionally charged parts that really made this series what it was. While I felt the end was a bit ... prettily wrapped, I actually have no complaint with what Hand did with it. Boundless is the perfect wrap-up to a wonderful series that sets the bar for paranormal romance. It's kind of hard to let these characters go now, but I know I'm not alone when I say I'll be waiting to see what Hand comes up with next. If you haven't started this series, run out and do it!
